Where to meet for Lessons & Fitness Rows in Belfast Bay

Our lessons and fitness rows take place in Belfast Bay, at the northwest end of Penobscot Bay in midcoast Maine.

Our multi-day adventure rows launch from various locations along the coast. You will receive specific instructions on where and when to meet after completing registration for those longer rows.

Private lessons: Meet at the Public Boat Ramp on the Belfast Waterfront, near the Harbormaster's office at the end of Main Street. You can usually find parking in the mornings, unless it’s a festival weekend. Afternoons & evenings can be busier - if there is no parking in the public lot near the boat ramp, look for parking on the street or try the large gravel lot near Front Street Pub. Public restrooms are located just uphill from the boat ramp.

Group lessons in the quad: Meet at Thompson’s Wharf (see map below). Park in the large gravel parking lot between Front Street Pub and Front Street Shipyard. Walk north along the Harbor Walk until you see the Rowing to Wild sidewalk sign (there will also be signs for Schooner Charm). You should also be able to see our bright aqua-painted quad from the Harbor Walk. If you get to the giant travel lifts that the shipyard uses to haul boats from the water, you’ve gone too far.

There is also parking (with two EV charging stations) at the corner of Pierce Street and Bridge Street, about a five-minute walk from Thompson’s Wharf.

If you need to use the restroom before the row, there are two options. The first is the public restrooms just uphill from the harbor master’s office. The second are porta-potties at the bottom of Pierce Street. Either one is about a five-minute walk from Thompson’s Wharf.
